Politics in Minnesota/Capitol Report to sponsor BringMeTheNews gubernatorial debate

Politics in Minnesota, the state’s premiere public affairs online news service, and Capitol Report, Minnesota’s only public policy newspaper covering the state capitol, have agreed to be co-sponsors of the BringMeTheNews gubernatorial debate Sept. 15 in downtown Minneapolis.

The interactive debate will put DFL nominee Mark Dayton, GOP nominee Tom Emmer and Independent nominee Tom Horner onstage before a live audience at the Pantages Theater, 710 Hennepin Avenue.  BringMeTheNews President Rick Kupchella will moderate the event.

“We will produce a unique conversation-style debate where Minnesotans can participate in an interactive question and answer session through BringMeTheNews’ online social networks including Facebook and Twitter,” Kupchella said.

In addition to questions from Kupchella, the candidates also will field questions from thought-leaders in the community via video feeds and from the general public online.

BringMeTheNews is hosting the event in partnership with the Citizens League, a 58-year-old non-partisan public policy organization, and the LEAD Project, a non-profit group that engages young professionals in charitable and philanthropic activities in Minnesota.   In addition to Politics in Minnesota/Capitol Report, other corporate sponsors for the debate include Target Corp. (NYSE:TGT), the law firm of Dorsey & Whitney and the Minnesota Association of Realtors.

The event also will be streamed live at bringmethenews.com and will be rebroadcast on WUCW-TV Channel 23.

The event is free but tickets are required.  They will be distributed by BringMeTheNews, Citizens League and the LEAD Project.  More information on the event is available here. The theater can seat an audience of approximately 1,000.
