Choi leads money hunt in Ramsey County Attorney contest

John Choi has raised nearly $150,000 since beginning his campaign for Ramsey County Attorney — or slightly more than his two primary opponents combined. Among the notables who have provided maximum $500 donations to the former St. Paul City Attorney’s campaign: former attorney general Mike Hatch and Hubbard Broadcasting CEO Stanley Hubbard.
David Schultz, a former official with the Minnesota Attorney General’s office, has taken in the second biggest haul. He’s raised a total of $80,000, with roughly half of that coming in this year.
Trailing slightly behind is Roseville City Council Member Tammy Pust. She’s raised roughly $60,000 so far, with about $35,000 of that banked in 2010.
The trio of challengers will face off in Tuesday’s primary, with the top two vote getters in the non-partisan contest advancing to the general election. The winner will replace four-term incumbent Susan Gaertner.
