The liberal group Alliance for a Better Minnesota has released its third ad of the campaign season, and it’s the third to attack GOP-endorsed candidate for governor Tom Emmer.
The new ad, called “Light,” features a woman named Margaret Everson, whose son was killed in a drunk driving accident. The ad makes the connection between her son’s death and Emmer’s introduction of HF 1305 in 2009—which would change certain pretrial sanctions in DUI cases—as well as Emmer’s two DUI tickets.
The ad begins airing tomorrow, and is scheduled for two weeks of broadcast. Washington, DC-based The New Media Firm has seen the lion’s share of the Alliance’s independent expenditures, pulling around 90% of the PAC’s $686,000 spent against Emmer to date.
