Bill Walsh, communications director for the Minnesota Department of Education, is taking a four-month leave of absence to become deputy communications director for Tom Emmer’s gubernatorial campaign.
“Bill is one of the most experienced campaign operatives in Minnesota today,” GOP nominee Emmer said in a statement this morning. “I’m pleased to add him to my team.”
Walsh, 44, will oversee all campaign communications for Emmer, including an emphasis on interactive media.
He has worked on several statewide GOP campaigns, including the elections of Gov. Tim Pawlenty and former Sen. Norm Coleman in 2002, and is a former deputy executive director and executive director of the Minnesota Republican Party.
He also serves as federal liaison for the Department of Education.
