Stonewall DFL, the party’s gay and lesbian caucus, has endorsed Avi Viswanathan in the Senate District 67 contest. Viswanathan is among 11 candidates seeking to replace retiring Sen. Mee Moua, who has represented the St. Paul district since 2002.

The former staffer for U.S. Sen. Al Franken received an “A” rating from the Stonewall DFL caucus. None of the other six candidates who screened with the group earned a similar designation.

There are nine DFLers running in the August 10 primary. The winner will face off against Republican Krysia Weidell and Independence Party candidate Dino Guerin in the general election.
