A good story gives a behind the scenes of how the government built its case against Tom Petters staring with the conversation between Deanna Coleman and defense attorney Allan Caplan.
These are the first public comments Caplan has made since the arrest, trial and conviction of Petters. He was a speaker at the Minnesota chapters of the Turnaround Management Association and the Association for Corporate Growth.
What interested me as I read this is what Caplan must have thought to himself when Coleman came into his office that day and started to explain what she was involved in. At what point did Caplan say to himself, “There is no way what she is telling me is true.”
