Rep. Bud Nornes, a seven-term Republican member of the Minnesota House from Fergus Falls, was briefly hospitalized today after passing out, falling and hitting his head in the state Capitol.

Nornes collapsed during a House GOP Caucus meeting early this morning and was taken to Regions Hospital by paramedics. Caucus spokesman Kevin Watterson said Nornes was conscious when he left the Capitol, but he also said Nornes, 67, wasn’t expected to return in time for the House vote on the the budget compromise.

However, just after 4 a.m., Watterson sent out another e-mail alert with the subject line “Good news on Rep. Nornes”: “Rep. Nornes has returned from the hospital and is feeling better. He expects to make an appearance on the House floor” for the budget vote.”
