Hackett collects union endorsement

Maureen Hackett, who is seeking the Democratic endorsement to challenge first-term incumbent U.S. Rep. Erik Paulsen, R-Minn., has been endorsed by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Minnesota State Council.

The IBEW Minnesota State Council represents 15 local unions in Minnesota.

“We endorsed Dr. Hackett because she has the tenacity, intelligence and experience to continue advancing the agenda for working families in the district,” Tom Koehler, the organization’s president, said in a statement.

Hackett’s campaign said she has won the support of two-thirds of named delegates at Senate district DFL conventions over the last month and a half. She also has been endorsed by the DFL Veterans Caucus, Stonewall DFL, the Minnesota Women’s Political Caucus, state Sen. Ann Rest, DFL-New Hope, and state Reps. Maria Ruud, DFL-Minnetonka; Melissa Hortman, DFL-Brooklyn Park; Linda Slocum, DFL-Richfield; and Sandra Peterson, DFL-New Hope.
