Session to focus on diabetes model

An informational session on diabetes will be presented by Jay Desai, an epidemiologist with the Minnesota Department of Health’s diabetes program, Sept. 17 at the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey Institute.

“Rethinking the ‘Health’ in ‘Health Care’: A Diabetes Systems Dynamics Model” will run from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the Humphrey Institute’s Stassen Room.

In 2004, the Centers for Disease Control began developing a diabetes systems dynamics model, and the health departments in three states – Minnesota, California and Vermont – subsequently helped refine the model and explore its usefulness for informing various decision-making processes.

Desai’s presentation will address the development of the model, how it has been used and future steps.

The event is free, but attendees are asked to RSVP by e-mail to [email protected].
