Patrick D. Reilly and Nicole B. Surges have been made shareholders in the law firm of Erstad & Riemer, P.A. Jason J. Kuboushek and Michael D. Klemm have joined the firm as associates in the liability and workers’ compensation departments.

Maslon Edelman Borman & Brand has announced that firm partner Mary Vasaly has been appointed as a charter member of the Executive Board of the Council of Appellate Lawyers. Vasaly is a litigator, focusing her practice in the areas of appellate law and commercial litigation. She is a member of the firm’s appellate law team. The Council of Appellate Lawyers has been created as an entity of the Appellate Judges Conference of the American Bar Association to assist in the professional development of lawyers who practice appellate law and to foster a creative dialogue between those lawyers and state and federal appellate judges.

The law firm of Henson & Efron, P.A. has announced that effective Jan. 1, 2001, Joseph T. Dixon has been elected president of the firm. Dixon, who joined the firm in 1971, practices in the areas of commercial litigation, alternative dispute resolution, and products liability.

Phil Garon has been named chairman of Faegre & Benson’s management committee. Garon, who joined the firm in 1974, has been a partner in the firm’s corporate finance group since 1980. He has been involved in many of the region’s significant merger-and-acquisition transactions.

Briggs and Morgan has announced its officers and board of directors for 2001. Jeffrey Shaw is president, David Greening is vice president, James Steilen is treasurer and Brigid McDonough is secretary. Alan Maclin, Charles Rogers, Timothy Thornton, James Vose and Brian Wenger are on the board.

Christopher J. Sorenson has joined the Minneapolis office of the law firm of Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi, L.L.P. Sorenson’s practice focuses on intellectual property litigation. He received his B.A. from Macalester College and his J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law.
