Former Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice Eric Magnuson was the keynote speaker at Volunteer Lawyers Network’s second annual Benefactors’ Pro Bono Picnic last night.
Nearly 200 attorneys, judges, corporate representatives and legal professionals attended and enjoyed the late summer evening at the Nicollet Island Pavilion.
According to VLN executive director Sue Pontinen, the event raised more than $95,000 in new funding.
“The support of the legal community was outstanding, and these funds will be used to increase pro bono legal services to those most in need in our community,” she said.
Honored at the event was William Fisher of Gray Plant Mooty, who received VLN’s Volunteer of the Year award, and Karen Canon of U.S. Bancorp, the recipient of the John D. Levine Distinguished Service award.
