Former Minnesota State Bar Association President Leo I. Brisbois has been appointed to the position of U.S. Magistrate Judge for the District of Minnesota.
Brisbois, 48, was born in Aurora, Minn., and raised in Hibbing. He received his undergraduate and law school degrees from Hamline University. Since 1991, he has been with the Minneapolis law firm of Stich, Angell, Kreidler, Dodge & Unke, P.A., and prior to that served in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps of the U.S. Army for three years. He served as president of the MSBA from July 2009 to July 2010.
Brisbois will take the oath of office in the U.S. Courthouse in Minneapolis on August 30, and a formal ceremony will be held this fall in the Gerald W. Heaney Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse and Customhouse in Duluth.
