Aaron Biber

Aaron Biber

Former Minnesota State Bar Association treasurer Aaron Biber pleaded guilty to criminal sexual conduct charges today. The Strib has the story (click here). Here’s a quote from the article:

The fact is I committed this crime. I don’t want to put the victim, his family, my family, my sons and my former wife and colleagues through this,” Biber said. “I’ve been in therapy the past few months and I feel this would be a positive step in my therapy.”

I don’t have much more to say on this other than it closes out a very sad chapter.

Unfortunately, I doubt this is “over” for the victim. Mr. Biber’s conduct in taking advantage of a kid who is in the process of discovering who he is will likely have lasting impact. Very sad for the kid.

The chapter to which I am referring to as being “closed out” is the legal case. As with any crime like this, the consequences to all involved — including the victim, the victim’s family, Biber’s family and Biber himself — will be ongoing.

It will be interesting to see what his sentence will be. There’s a lot of room between 30 years and probation!

Wow! 18years is a bit much. However, what this man did was very bad! If the press reports are correct it started when the boy was 11! This was not a delusion. It was an obsession. Sad. Hope the boy does well. The jerk will get out soon enough.
