Kent Gernander, as bar president and chair of the Lawyers Professional
Responsibility Board, has contributed inestimably to Minnesota lawyers as a quiet workhorse and integral member of the legal community—and did it with a 135 mile commute to the cities from Winona. Gernander is nearing completion of his 6-year term as chair of the LPRB and although he will be replaced by the excellent Judith Rush, his presence will no doubt be missed. When he took over from Chuck Lundberg, Supreme Court Justice Paul Anderson told Gernander he had some pretty big shoes to fill. He did. Gernander’s departure (and that of other board members) will be marked on Friday, Jan. 22 with a luncheon at the Town and Country Club. Thanks to Gernander for a job well done.

Bravo!
Kent has been such a wonderful example of competent lawyer, trusted advisor and diligent servant of the legal community, and all done with modesty and singular interest in advancing the state of the art. He has been exemplary in bar activities far beyond the President’s role. I think he probably did more to locate the bar in its headquarters than anyone. He has contributed to the Bar Ethics program, continuing education and bar planning. He has also, almost single handedly, elevated the sole and small firm practitioner practice into a measured skill level with communication, training and unity. Fortunately for me, I know him well and I have received great value from his efforts, as will many, many members of our association, and the public at large. Thanks Kent for all you have done!
Receiving accolades from Robert Langford is high priase indeed. I have great respect for both Mr. Langford and Mr. Gernander. Good job.
