We’ve done a lot of posting here about some of the challenges faced by new lawyers as they enter one of the worst legal job markets in decades. However, it’s still always heartening to see the profession revitalized by these energetic new attorneys entering full of idealism, energy and ambition. With that in mind, today we post a few video clips from this morning’s bar admission ceremony at the St. Paul RiverCentre. A total of 615 wore sworn in as our new colleagues, the vast majority of whom passed the July 2009 bar exam. Here are few moments from the ceremony, as shot by our videographer, Bill Klotz.
Some of the more poignant moments happened during the swearing in of the candidates whose admission was sponsored by a member of the Minnesota bar, often a relative or spouse. Here, for example, is a clip of the swearing in of one new attorney, Leora Maccabee, whose admission was moved by her mother, St. Paul attorney Paula Maccabee.
Minnesota Lawyer welcomes all the new attorneys and wishes them well as they embark on their careers.
