Willmar has been selected to house the financial processing unit of the new Minnesota Court Payment Center, the Minnesota state court system has announced. The payment center is part of an effort by the Judicial Branch to centralize the processing of more than a million payable citations annually.
Willmar was selected in a competitive process that included five other locations around the state.
Staffing is scheduled to begin in January. An estimated eight to 10 employees willl eventually be housed on the third floor of the Kandiyohi County Courthouse.
“The centralization of citation processing will speed up processing, save the Judicial Branch and taxpayers money and offer the public the option of paying fines by mail, by phone or through our website,” said Sue Dosal, State Court Administrator in a release announcing the change.
