It’s time once again for the Minnesota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers‘ annual dinner and “not-so-silent” auction.
The big event is being held March 7, 2009, at the Town and Country Club in St. Paul. The silent and live auction proceeds help fund MACDL’s trial school scholarship and its lobbying efforts, which include helping to insure that public defenders are adequately funded. Attorneys may participate in three ways:
1) Come to the event and bid heavily;
2) Donate an item for the silent or live auction; and/or
3) Become a sponsor at any of the following levels:
• Felony: $1,000 gets you top billing in the sponsorships listing in the program and four tickets to the dinner/auction;
• Gross Misdemeanor: $500 gets you second billing and two tickets to the dinner/auction;
• Misdemeanor: $250 gets you third billing and one ticket to the dinner/auction.
Sponsors may also bring and distribute marketing materials to the guests.
As of today, the “big ticket” auction items include a three-night stay for up to four at a beach house on Lake Superior, U.S. Supreme Court Justices bobbleheads (donated by U.S. District Court Chief Judge James Rosenbaum), a day at the races at Brainerd International Speedway (including, for four people, classroom instruction, field instruction and a chance to race a performance car on the speedway). More silent and live auction donations are coming in daily.
If you’d like to participate in the event, contact Carolyn Agin Schmidt at (763) 591-0552 or www.caslaw.net.
