This just in from the courts:  The  Coalition to Preserve Minnesota’s Justice System will hold a press conference Wednesday, January 14, at 1:30 p.m. in Room 181 of the State Office Building to express members’ concerns about the impact of additional funding cuts to the justice system.

Chief Justice Eric J. Magnuson formed the coalition in 2008 in response to concerns about the growing inability of the state’s justice system to handle the more than 2 million cases filed each year.

In addition to Chief Justice Magnuson, also scheduled to speak are: James Backstrom, Dakota County Attorney and immediate past president of the Minnesota County Attorneys Association; John Stuart, State Public Defender; Sharon Sayles Belton, former Mayor of Minneapolis and a representative of law enforcement.
