Rwandan police say an American lawyer jailed on charges of denying Rwanda’s 1994 genocide has tried to commit suicide Associated Press reports.
Police spokesman Eric Kayiranga said Wednesday that Peter Erlinder swallowed 45 to 50 pills in his prison cell. A police doctor says Erlinder is being treated in a hospital and his condition is improving.
