Man slain in Arden Hills was Boston Scientific attorney

The man who was shot and killed at an Arden Hills gas station yesterday was an attorney at Boston Scientific.

Kelly L. Phillips was vice president and chief counsel, worldwide businesses for Boston Scientific, the company confirmed today.

Phillips was shot around 8:45 a.m. Monday by another man in the parking lot of a Holiday gas station on County Road 96 near Interstate 35W.

Phillips was engaged to his roommate, Nathon Bailey, the Star Tribune reported. Bailey was taken in to custody yesterday after the killing, but released a few hours later. The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Department also says it is looking for Lyle “Ty” Hoffman, 44, as a suspect.

Boston Scientific released a statement following the news of Phillips’ death.

“We are devastated by yesterday’s unexpected death of our dear friend and colleague, Kelly Phillips,” the company said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. Kelly will be remembered not only for his great skills as a lawyer, but also for his kindness, gentleness and ability to make those around him feel better about themselves. He will be sorely missed by his many friends here at Boston Scientific.”

  1. “Phillips was engaged to his roommate”. Is it 1950?
