Scott Newman, the Republican endorsed candidate for Attorney General says his campaign will report fundraising of more than $26,000 so far. Newman, a state senator from Hutchinson, is challenging DFL incumbent Lori Swanson for the job.
He entered the race May 29. His campaign says the donations came from more than 425 contributors.
By contrast, Swanson started 2014 with $225,014 and reported $89,750 in additional fundraising June 12. The bulk of Swanson’s money, nearly $68,000 came from individual contributions. She also reported $4,350 in donations from lobbyists and $17,700 from political committees. The PACs at Dorsey & Whitney and Gray Plant Mooty both gave Swanson money.
