Charges against David Gherity have been dismissed, the Dakota County attorney’s office announced yesterday. Gherity, 61, a suspended attorney, was charged in April with assault and arson for setting his girlfriend on fire. The woman charged that he had doused her with hair spray and nail polish remover while she slept and then lit the fire. But an investigation showed that he had an alibi for the time that the crime was committed. Reportedly, Gherity spent two months in jail.
