St. Louis Park school district settles with families of Lilydale landslide victims

The St. Louis Park school district has agreed to pay $200,000 to the families of children who were victims of a landslide on a school field trip in 2013.

The families of Haysem Sani, 9, and Mohamed Fofana, 10, who were killed in the landslide, each will receive $80,000 from the school district. The family of Devin Meldahl, who was seriously injured, will receive $40,000.

The families had previously reached a settlement with the City of St. Paul over the deadly incident which happened at Lilydale Regional Park. The city agreed to pay $1 million to the families of the three boys.

The school district did not admit liability in the case.
