Bill planned to provide remedy for wrongful incarceration

Sen. Ron Latz and Rep. John Lesch recently announced they will introduce legislation this year to compensate wrongfully imprisoned persons who were later found innocent. Minnesota is one of 21 states that does not have such a law.

Minnesota has seen three such cases in recent years. Koua Fong Lee spent nearly 3 years in prison after a man and two children died in a car crash caused by the car’s Michael Hansen was wrongfully convicted of murdering his three- month-old daughter amd served six years before being exonerated.
