US Bank settles discrimination complaint

Listen to this articleU.S. Bank National Association has agreed to settle a discrimination complaint filed by a disabled Minnesota man who applied for a mortgage.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development says the Bloomington-based lender will pay $12,000 to settle the case. A U.S. Bank spokesperson says the company does not admit to discriminating, but agreed to settle the complaint.
HUD found U.S. Bank required the applicant prove that he would continue receiving disability income for three years before it would approve his loan. The Roseville man had already submitted documentation from the Social Security Administration.
HUD says additional documentation was not needed and the requirement was discriminatory.
