Short joined Dorsey & Whitney in 1977, left to serve as a judge on the Court of Appeals from 1988 to 2000, and returned to Dorsey as a partner in 2000. In 2007, Short was named global Managing Partner of the Firm.
Short is widely viewed as having successfully steered Dorsey through the recession that hit the legal profession hard.
Additionally, as one of the most influential women in the legal community, Short used her influence to advocate for women in the legal profession.
“The Firm also has continued to make strides in bringing women and other diverse groups into its ranks, regularly being recognized as one of the best law firms for women and as a leader in workplace flexibility,” the firm’s press release stated.
Short said in the press release, “As the Firm enters its second century of service, it is in a strong position – qualitatively, strategically, financially and culturally. The Dorsey Firm is blessed with exceptional attorneys and support staff, a robust client following and legendary core values.”
