MSBA’s month long convention wraps Thursday

The Minnesota State Bar Association’s annual statewide convention 9 Days in June wraps up this Thursday with a full day CLE held in St. Paul. The seminar is open to all attorneys across the state, and will be followed by receptions sponsored by the law schools and the annual Presidents’ Reception.

The event will be held at Crowne Plaza Riverfront Hotel in downtown St. Paul.

Minnesota Appellate Court Case Update

Professor Peter Knapp from William Mitchell School of Law provides a timely, informative and entertaining update on the most relevant Minnesota Supreme Court opinions from the past year.

The Direction of Health Care Reform

Lucinda Jesson, Commissioner of the MN Department of Human Services, presents the outcome and implications of the pending U.S. Supreme Court decision in Department of Health and Human Services vs. Florida, and what it means for the direction of health care reform in Minnesota and across the country.

Ethics and Public Corruption: An Insider’s Story

Richard Juliano worked on behalf of Illinois Secretary of State and Gov. George Ryan through a number of political campaigns. At the direction of Ryan’s top aide, Juliano and others participated in criminal wrongdoing associated with those campaigns, including when he was a third-year law student at the University of Chicago.

With former federal prosecutor Hank Shea serving as moderator, Juliano will describe the path that led to his misconduct, its consequences, and the lessons to be learned from his experiences.

Annual MSBA Presidents’ Reception

An opportunity to recognize outgoing MSBA president Brent Routman and incoming president Robert Enger.
