COMPETENCY – Involuntary Medication; Mental Illness

Where prosecutors in a child pornography case sought to forcibly medicate the mentally ill defendant to restore his competency to stand trial, the District Court did not err in finding that an important government interest is at stake, and that the medication plan was substantially likely to restore the defendant’s competency and significantly further the state’s interest in prosecuting the defendant. Judgment is affirmed.
